I’ve been working on a lot of projects, but up until now, I’ve neglected putting together a blog. And that’s probably because I’m afraid the one thing I love doing most will take me away from those projects.
As someone who loves to write, I know that I’m supposed to do it every day in order to nurture & grow that talent.
But I have a whole lot of interests:
Performing and recording/editing/mixing music (I’m a saxophonist), video editing (I’m producing and editing a web series), hosting (co-host the web series), voice overs (commercial auditions), and studying how to monetize my ideas (I’m an entrepreneur by nature).
At the moment, I’m editing together a music video of my performance playing saxophone at my best friend’s wedding in Alaska—-as a re-make of the scene from “The Lost Boys” with the greasy beefcake sax guy performing The Call’s (and more famously Tim Cappello’s) version of “I Still Believe.” Completely shirtless, body lubed, body blinged, next to fiery trash barrels….It’s my wedding present, but it’s also my journey to hone my hopefully-one-day profitable skills.
It’s not exactly accurate to say that one of these media is more profitable or valuable than another; they’re all tough to break into….But I want to learn how to do it all…To carve a niche as an online media producer version of Prince or Quincy Jones or Lorne Michaels.
I know it’s naive, and I’m opening myself up for skepticism (or, most commonly, internet-shit talking from the comfort of a cozy chair), but I’d be happy to get sporadic income by any of one of these means. So it probably goes without saying that I’m still trying to figure it all out. But with that disclaimer, I have to try them all, preferably in conjunction with one another.
Therefore, this blog will be where I write about, and show, the fruits of my labor.
Before they ferment.
